Our Story
In July 2024, it became clear that there was a gap in the primary coding market in the form of a year long, coding competition aimed at primary school aged children in the UK. While there were brilliant examples that were stand alone day events or aimed towards the secondary sector, it was clear there was a need and a demand for something new.
Our founder, Charlie, had been searching and waiting for something to come along but to no avail. So rather than waiting for someone to do something, he decided to do it himself and so, the Primary Coding League was born.
With a spreadsheet and some social media, he put together an idea. A format, registration, website, volunteer judges and prizes, all driven by the excitment of an idea of becoming reality and being able to provide an opportunity to children and improve the landscape of primary age coding.
As news of the Primary Coding League spread, the possibilities and opportunities grew. We soon realised that we were starting a movement that had huge potential to impact hundreds of primary aged coders across the UK. With that in mind, in December 2024 we launched our first workshop format, Primary Coding League: LIVE! along with our Using AI in Schools CPD.

However, we knew we couldn't stop there. While the first season of the league was underway, we worked behind the scenes to bring a new, short form format of our flagship: Primary Coding Cup.
